All the sizing advice that you should need to buy your sexy jeans...

So you’ve found your ideal pair of sexy jeans, you’re imagining how great you’ll look in them, which shoes you’ll wear with them and how you’ll be the envy of all of your friends in them – well, we all know how flattering a well fitting pair of sexy jeans can be! But how do you get that ultimate head-turning fit?

Buying the right size can be a bit tricky because jeans are such a tailored garment, but with the right fitting advice there’s no need to leave it to luck or assumption!

As with the purchase of any item of clothing, life would be lovely if all brands and manufacturers used the same standardised sizes! Unfortunately his isn't the case, and sizes on the high street can vary by as much as two dress sizes between stores! We list our sexy jeans according to their tag size and measurements. Where the tag size doesn't measure up, we'll offer sizing advice for that item, or use in between sizes, such as 10-12. This way you always know where you stand with a fit.

Nevertheless, how do you know what each of the sizes in our shop represents in terms of inches? The classic dress sizes correspond as follows:

Using these measurements (or those given for each individual style), we recommend that you measure yourself or a well fitting pair of your own jeans. The most important points to consider are:

SEXY JEANS SIZING AND FITTING GUIDE

“WAIST” or WAISTBAND

For an accurate fit you will need to measure your “waist” at the point where the jeans will sit. Remember, this will vary from one pair of jeans to the next, depending on the rise of the jeans. So for example, if the jeans you want to buy have a 6 inch rise, you will need to measure the circumference of your body 6 inches up from your crotch. In the case of low rise jeans we use the term "waist" loosely, since most low rise jeans will actually fit around your pelvis rather than your natural waist line.

To ascertain the waistband measurement of a pair of jeans, we hold the waistband taut, measure across, then double that figure. This gives the measurement of the unstetched waistband circumference. For stretch jeans, this can “give” by up to four inches! The degree of stretch will depend on the elastane content of the denim and will vary from one style to the next, so when measuring jeans we note how much stretch the jeans will offer.

When taking measurements from a pair of your own jeans, keep in mind that just because it says “30” on the label does not mean they’ll measure 30” on the waistband! Also, your own stretch jeans may have been “broken in” – the stretch allowing for a more generous fit than when they were brand new.

Here are a few typical style-fitting examples:

Example 1: I WANT TIGHT, SEXY LOW RISE JEANS!
You spot a pair of sexy stretch jeans with a 7” low rise, and you want a tight, sexy fit. Measure 7 inches up from your crotch, bringing you to around hip bone level, and at this point measure the circumference around you body. If you measure say 32” at this point, and are looking for a tight fit, you would be best choosing a pair of stretch jeans that have a 30” waistband. Bear in mind that low rise jeans are designed to be a tight fit to keep them on the hips and to stop them from falling down; they usually need to “grip” slightly. If you like your jeans really tight, you might want to go a bit smaller, or if you’re looking for a more casual fit, go an inch or so higher – just remember to incorporate the stretch when making your measurements! (If you want a sexy-ass look, don’t forget to check the low hip measurement too… see below!)

Example 2: I WANT SLIM FITTING CORSET JEANS
The average pair of high rise corset jeans has a rise of 11”. For most people such jeans would fit at the narrowest part of the waist. While they are called corset jeans, you may not necessarily want a corseting effect – it all depends on your personal preference. For a comfortable fit, we would advise choosing high rise jeans with a waistband measurement that closely resembles your own, and if you want them to nip in at your waist, go ever so slightly lower than your measurement.

Example 3: I WANT NON-STRETCH JEANS!
The innovation that is stretch denim makes fitting jeans somewhat more flexible, but with non-stretch 100% denim jeans you need to be all the more accurate in choosing your jeans size. If possible, take the measurements from a pair of your own non-stretch jeans, as this will give you the clearest idea of which size of non-stretch strides to buy. If basing your buying decision on your own measurements, choose a size with measurements as close as possible to your own as they are only likely to give up by around 1” tops.

INSIDE LEG

Simply measure from your crotch down to the point at which you'd like your jeans to fall. This measurement may be longer if you want to wear your sexy jeans long over heels, or shorter for wearing with flats. Usually the full lngth of the inside of your leg will give you a good idea of the length of jeans needed to wear with flat shoes. We take the inside leg measurement from the very top of the leg at the crotch seam, all the way to the bottom of the cuff, and for consistency’s sake we round the measurement to the nearest inch.

LOW HIP

This is effectively the circumference of the widest part of your bottom! We take this measurement across the lowest part of the rise, just above the crotch seam. Most stretch jeans will stretch up by a couple of inches for a snug comfortable fit!

TOP OF THIGH

If you are buying a pair of skin tight jeans, it is also advisable to measure the circumference of the top of your thigh, remembering that stretch denim jeans stretch up by an inch or two for a skin tight fit. This measurement is taken across the very top of the leg, just below crotch same level. This is usually the widest part of the leg.

CUFF

While we attribute a style definition to each of our lines, it is always best to check the leg width measurements make sure your chosen jeans measure up to your expectations. The cuff measurement is taken across the width of the very bottom of the leg. For skinny jeans this will be between 5” and 7”, straight jeans will be around 7”, bootcut jeans usually have a cuff of around 9” and baggy skater jeans have anything up to a 17” cuff! Leg widths do vary according to size, so the cuff of a pair of size 6 jeans for any given style will by default be smaller than the cuff of a pair of size 14 jeans.

***

The actual measurments for any given size will vary from style to style and from garment to garment, which is why we always recommend that our customers check their measurements! Quite simply, you are more likely to choose the right size if you measure before you buy, and you'll be looking damn fine in sexy hot denim in no time at all!
